Summer Holidays And Permanent Makeup, What You Need To Do

IT’S NOT A MARRIAGE MADE IN HEAVEN

Most of us love the feeling of the sun on our skin. It’s a rare treat so of course we want to make the most of it.
However, the sun breaks down the pigment molecules and therefore can have a huge impact on the longevity of your permanent makeup. The sun can also be guilty for changing the warmth of your Permanent Makeup, particularly on the brow area.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR YOUR PERMANENT MAKEUP?

Protection. Protection. Protection.

Try, if possible, to avoid sitting in direct sun light or limit the amount of time you spend in the sun.

If you are in the sun, or going to be exposed to the sun, please ensure you use a good quality SPF. One that I always recommend is Uvistat SPF 50 sun block and can be purchased from most pharmacies. This looks a little like a lipstick and should be applied to the Permanent Makeup area, whether this be your brows, lips etc prior to going out into the sun.

In addition wear a sun hat and sunglasses to provide extra protection. I highly recommend this, as it not only protects your Permanent Makeup, but also protects your skin in general. We all know that the sun can have long lasting effects on your skin and as much as you can protect it the better.

If you are planning a holiday overseas and looking forward to dipping in and out of the pool then be aware. Chlorine also breaks down the pigment molecules and can therefore have a direct impact on the longevity of your Permanent Makeup. It is therefore equally important to use your SPF if you are going to be in and out of the swimming pool both before and after.
